Looking For A Leader (For A Museum)
I don't have a space yet and its breaking my heart but I've got a lawyer and that's a start!
Just now I got some good news from a lawyer at VLA in Boston. He approved the viability of my idea of an Andersen Design Museum of American Designer Craftsmen that also functions as a fiscal sponsor for designer-craftsmen studios. The lawyer in Boston says he can help to find a lawyer in Maine to help with the 501 (30 (C ) application.

However, to make sure there are no conflicts of interest between an Andersen Design design, research, and development studio being fiscally sponsored by the museum, it is better to find another person to lead it, which is what I prefer regardless. It should be a very interesting job but challenging to find someone to take on leadership for a museum before it is established and when it has no funding, and no space. However, if such a person should manifest, their first role will be to form a board because a Museum needs a board to have a serious chance when applying for grants. There are foundations that award grants for museum spaces. With a great board and Andersen Design’s historical recognition, there is a good chance for funding a museum.
A person who takes on such a role in such an early stage will be able to have an active role in forming the Museum, including deciding where it will be located.
The Museum is conceived of as a central core to a network of designer craftsmen studios that can be attached to a home as part of the traditional lifestyle of the working designer craftsman. This makes a community.
